{"id":31362,"date":"2024-04-03T13:54:38","date_gmt":"2024-04-03T17:54:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/?page_id=31362"},"modified":"2025-04-28T15:47:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-28T19:47:32","slug":"application-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/thoracic-surgery-fellowship\/application-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Application Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pl-31362\"  class=\"panel-layout\" ><div id=\"pg-31362-0\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-31362-0-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-31362-0-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"0\" ><div class=\"textwidget\"><h3>Position<\/h3>\n<p>One position is offered on a competitive basis each year in the Thoracic Surgery Fellowship Program at UConn Health.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Apply<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You first must submit an electronic application via the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/applying-residency\/applying-residencies-eras\/\">Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The academic year begins in August.<\/p>\n<p>A complete application includes the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed application<\/li>\n<li>Dean\u2019s letter, medical school transcript, and diploma<\/li>\n<li>Three or Four current letters of recommendation (required one from the program director, one from a cardiac surgeon, and one from a thoracic surgeon)<\/li>\n<li>Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)<\/li>\n<li>Official test transcripts for all applicable examinations (USMLE Step 1, 2, 3 or COMLEX scores)<\/li>\n<li>ECFMG certificate (if you graduated from medical school outside the USA)<\/li>\n<li>ABSITE scores (from the American Board of Surgery)<\/li>\n<li>Personal statement<\/li>\n<li>J-1 visa is the only non-immigrant visa accepted by the UConn School of Medicine graduate medical education program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Appointments are made through the Thoracic Surgery Matching Program, sponsored by the National Resident Matching Program Specialty Matching Services.
