As burnout has risen among healthcare providers nationally, we have aimed to create an atmosphere of collegiality, support, and professional growth for the fellows and faculty in our program.<\/p>\n<h3>Time Off for Personal and Medical Appointments<\/h3>\n<p>As a fellow, your physical and mental health is a priority to both UConn Health and the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. You'll have access to several resources to promote well-being, as well as time off clinical duties to attend appointments.<\/p>\n<h3>Formal Mentoring Program<\/h3>\n<p>In addition to regular one-on-one meetings with the program director, our program has developed a formal mentoring program. Our dedicated teaching faculty at all four of our training sites are available to provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support to our fellows. You will meet with your mentors periodically throughout your time in training to review your progress and career goals and ensure that your educational needs are being met.<\/p>\n<h3>Professional Development Sessions<\/h3>\n<p>Our fellows participate in regularly scheduled sessions focused on their professional development such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contract signing<\/li>\n<li>Life after fellowship<\/li>\n<li>Practice management<\/li>\n<li>Well-being\/burnout<\/li>\n<li>Work\/life balance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Organized Social Gatherings<\/h3>\n<p>Our program\u2019s fellows, faculty and staff attend social gatherings throughout the academic year such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Graduation dinners<\/li>\n<li>Happy hours<\/li>\n<li>Holiday parties<\/li>\n<li>Well-being
