{"id":24565,"date":"2021-08-27T07:19:31","date_gmt":"2021-08-27T11:19:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/?page_id=24565"},"modified":"2024-09-17T08:09:10","modified_gmt":"2024-09-17T12:09:10","slug":"simulation-track","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/emergency-medicine-residency-program\/simulation-track\/","title":{"rendered":"Simulation Track"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pl-24565\"  class=\"panel-layout\" ><div id=\"pg-24565-0\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-24565-0-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-24565-0-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"0\" ><div class=\"textwidget\"><h3>Simulation Mini - Fellowship Goals and Objectives<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Goal:<\/strong> To provide formal exposure and training in simulation (medical education) to senior residents who are interested in pursuing a career in simulation.<\/p>\n<p>This track will be tailored to the participant\u2019s individual goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To expose learners to simulation experiences across the healthcare spectrum.<\/li>\n<li>Exposure to research education in simulation.<\/li>\n<li>Administrative experience in simulation case writing, curriculum design, and curriculum implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Learn the basics of debriefing and teaching in an interactive learning environment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Tasks for the Mini-fellowship<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Assist with the EM clerkship simulation based curriculum.\n<ol>\n<li>Write a case.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in simulation cases and procedural training sessions over the year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Participate in 3-4 in-situ simulations in the UConn Health emergency department by writing cases and developing debriefing and then implementing the case.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in ongoing research projects in simulation based education.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the medical student transition to residency simulation based elective.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Educational Content<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Adult learning theory.<\/li>\n<li>Simulation learning theory.<\/li>\n<li>Debriefing best practices.<\/li>\n<li>Curriculum Development (Kern\u2019s).<\/li>\n<li>Curriculum and session assessment.<\/li>\n<li>Case writing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Deliverables and Feedback<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Continuous constructive feedback from faculty (Dr. Ledford and Dr. Frallicciardi).<\/li>\n<li>Portfolio.\n<ol>\n<li>2-3 cases written with ancillary data in formal formatting over the year.<\/li>\n<li>Any presentations given should be documented.<\/li>\n<li>Any abstracts or research projects.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Simulation Mini &#8211; Fellowship Goals and Objectives Goal: To provide formal exposure and training in simulation (medical education) to senior residents who are interested in pursuing a career in simulation.
