Dear Prospective Neurology Residents,<\/p>\n

Thank you for your interest in the UConn Health\/Hartford Hospital Neurology Residency Program. Choosing a residency is one of the most important decisions in your career, and we are excited to introduce you to a program that combines outstanding clinical training, academic excellence, and a supportive learning environment.<\/p>\n

Our program has had the privilege of training an exceptional and diverse group of residents who have gone on to become accomplished neurologists, educators, researchers, and leaders. We are especially proud that many of our graduates have chosen to return to UConn as faculty, a testament to the supportive community and strong educational foundation our program provides.<\/p>\n

Our primary mission is to train highly competent clinical neurologists who can excel in any pathway they choose- general practice, subspecialty fellowship training or research track. Our graduates consistently achieve a 100% board pass rate and successfully match into highly competitive subspecialty fellowships.<\/p>\n

We achieve this through:<\/p>\n

  • A comprehensive curriculum that provides early and extensive exposure to every major neurology subspecialty.<\/li>\n
  • Diverse clinical experiences that emphasize evidence-based medicine, multidisciplinary teamwork, patient safety, quality improvement, and culturally responsive care.<\/li>\n
  • A wide variety of opportunities to participate in clinical research and scholarly activity with most residents presenting at major national meetings and publishing in respected journals.<\/li>\n
  • Extensive involvement in medical education including many opportunities to teach and mentor medical students at the UCONN School of Medicine.<\/li>\n
  • A supportive educational environment that prioritizes resident wellness, professional growth, and work-life balance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Clinical training is anchored by two outstanding institutions that offer complementary educational experiences.<\/p>\n

    Hartford Hospital, a nationally recognized center of excellence, is a\u00a0tertiary referral center with > 900 beds, serving as the primary site for inpatient neurology training. Residents care for patients with an exceptional breadth and complexity of neurological disease while working alongside expert faculty across all neurology subspecialties. The hospital is home to a Comprehensive Stroke Center with a high-volume endovascular program, a Comprehensive Epilepsy Center (featuring a 6-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, 24\/7 continuous EEG monitoring, and an epilepsy surgery program) as well as a 25-bed Neuro-ICU. Residents also have access to cutting edge multidisciplinary subspeciality care across the Hartford Healthcare system, one of the largest health care systems in the Northeast.<\/p>\n

    Residents also train at UConn John Dempsey Hospital, a >250-bed state of the art academic medical center, getting both inpatient neurology training as well as exposure to outpatient continuity and subspecialty clinics.<\/p>\n

    Both sites provide an outstanding subspecialty clinic experience under the guidance of fellowship trained faculty in all major disciplines including epilepsy, movement disorders, dementia, neuromuscular medicine, headache, neuroimmunology, and others.<\/p>\n

    We believe our program provides an exceptional balance of outstanding clinical training, academic opportunity, mentorship, and quality of life.<\/p>\n
