Optimally, the fellow will rotate within the first 6 months of fellowship for several reasons:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To introduce the fellow to the concepts of critical illness in neonates and children<\/li>\n<li>Lay the foundation for understanding the physiology of the newborn and child<\/li>\n<li>Enable the fellow to develop critical relationships with key support staff in both of the intensive care units<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Rotation: PICU<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span>The PICU rotation will occur in the first year of fellowship (PGY-7). The fellow, in coordination with pediatric intensivists will care for critically ill children.
