Fellows spend their inpatient rotations at Connecticut Children's Hospital, which is located in Hartford, CT. The majority of the outpatient rotations take place at the division's main location in a large stand-alone ambulatory center of Connecticut Children's in Farmington, which is a short drive from the main campus.

Our academic Department of Pediatrics, as well as our robust research institution, is housed within the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington.

Our fellowship in pediatric endocrinology is three years in duration and has been designed to meet the requirements of the subspecialty board in pediatric endocrinology of the American Board of Pediatrics. The primary focus of the first year is clinical with dedicated time during the year to develop a research focus and identify a research mentor. The second year is largely focused on the major clinical, translational, and/or basic science research the fellow pursues under the mentorship of accomplished faculty who are based at Connecticut Children’s or UConn Health. There are opportunities in the third, and final year, of the fellowship to tailor the schedule to best fit the individual fellow’s career goals and develop more specific expertise in a particular area of endocrinology.

Our program provides a balance of excellent clinical training and research to prepare graduates for successful careers in pediatric endocrinology, whether academic or private practice.

On behalf of our faculty and staff, we thank you for your interest in our Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program. We encourage you to learn more about why you should pursue your endocrinology training at Connecticut Children’s. Our training program will provide you with the necessary tools to embark upon a successful career in pediatric endocrinology!

If you have questions or need more information, please contact our Program Coordinator, Elizabeth Anderson, at eanderson03@connecticutchildrens.org.

Sunitha Sura, M.D.
Program Director, Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship
Medical Director, Lipid Center
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Division of Endocrinology, Connecticut Children’s

Cem Demirci, M.D.
Division Head, Endocrinology and Diabetes
Clinical Director, Endocrinology and Diabetes
Medical Director, Diabetes Program

Christine Trapp, M.D.
Assistant Program Director, Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics

Emily Germain-Lee, M.D.
Director, Center for Rare Disease
Head of Academic Affairs and Research, Endocrinology
Professor of Pediatrics

Elizabeth Anderson
Program Coordinator, Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship

We are excited to introduce you to the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Connecticut Children’s!
