The Division of Neonatology and Fellowship Program are dedicated to improving the care of neonates by driving innovation in neonatal care through both clinical expertise and academic pursuits in basic and translational science and clinical research, quality improvement and ethics. The program offers trainees the opportunity to serve and learn from a clinically and culturally diverse population of neonates from a network of nurseries in inner-city, urban environments, as well as from across the states of Connecticut, eastern New York and western Massachusetts. Fellows are trained in academic pursuits by faculty from the Department of Pediatrics and the University of Connecticut who are accomplished in basic science, translational and clinical research, quality improvement and bioethics.<\/p>\n<h3>AIMS<\/h3>\n<p><span>The University of Connecticut School of Medicine Neonatal Perinatal Fellowship Program trains fellows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span>Prepare the next generation of academic neonatologists by providing them with the fundamental clinical, academic and administrative skills necessary to make substantial contributions to the field of neonatal medicine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Apply the skills necessary to support successful academic careers in various scholarly endeavors including, but not limited to: basic science, translational or clinical research, quality performance and improvement, and ethics <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Demonstrate collaboration and participation in a clinically integrated network, delivering services within multiple models of neonatal care.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MISSION The Neonatal Perinatal Fellowship Program at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine\/Connecticut Children\u2019s seeks to train the next generation of academic neonatologists.
