Supervision of second year residents, interns and medical students, and monitoring service census is all part of this busy experience.<\/p>\n<h3>Night Float Medicine<\/h3>\n<p>Four more weeks of Night Float round out a very complete experience (along with the total of 8 blocks of FMIS throughout the three years) in inpatient medicine under the supervision of our own Family Medicine attendings.<\/p>\n<h3>Health Systems Management<\/h3>\n<p>Primary focus of HSM3 is patient care and serving as the office chief for the FMC. Active participation in practice management occurs during this rotation as well as an emphasis learning about employment contracts, family physician compensation and benefits for your future.<\/p>\n<h3>Geriatrics<\/h3>\n<p>Our Geriatric attendings, both of whom are Family Medicine physicians who are trained in geriatrics supervise this rotation. Time is spent at UConn Health and at the skilled nursing facility (Seabury) that residents have been attending during the longitudinal experience.<\/p>\n<h3>Sports Medicine<\/h3>\n<p>Our Sports Medicine fellowship directors, Drs. Hall and Brown, both of whom are Family Medicine physicians, supervise our Sports Medicine rotation. Residents work alongside the fellows in the Sports Medicine sessions at the Family Medicine Center and spend time in Storrs at our UConn undergraduate campus.<\/p>\n<h3>Pediatric Emergency Medicine<\/h3>\n<p>Acute and emergent care of infants, children and adolescents in the ED based at Connecticut Children\u2019s Medical Center in Hartford provides this pediatric experience.<\/p>\n<h3>Outpatient Pediatrics<\/h3>\n<p>Additional training in the regular health care for children and adolescents, evaluating and treating sick children is the purpose of this community ambulatory pediatric rotation. The rotation is based at a federally qualified health clinic in the south end of Hartford (Community Health, Inc.).<\/p>\n<h3>Electives<\/h3>\n<p>The third year of training allows for a significant amount of time for you to design your additional training.
