{"id":14465,"date":"2018-06-01T13:45:00","date_gmt":"2018-06-01T17:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/?page_id=14465"},"modified":"2025-04-28T15:00:43","modified_gmt":"2025-04-28T19:00:43","slug":"application-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/graduate-medical-education\/international-disaster-emergency-medicine-fellowship\/application-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Application Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pl-14465\"  class=\"panel-layout\" ><div id=\"pg-14465-0\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-14465-0-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-14465-0-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"0\" ><div class=\"textwidget\"><h3>Program Description<\/h3>\n<p>The program will help fellows achieve the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop a knowledge base and skills set to be experts in all phases of the disaster cycle<\/li>\n<li>Participation in local, regional, federal, and international IDEM activities<\/li>\n<li>Develop a comprehensive knowledge base of United States\u2019 Preparedness and Response System<\/li>\n<li>Develop skills to take leadership roles in their community<\/li>\n<li>Develop a competency in IDEM research and teaching skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Public Health Training<\/h3>\n<p>The core of the didactic curriculum involved obtaining an M.P.H. from the University of Connecticut.<\/p>\n<h3>Disaster Field Work<\/h3>\n<p>Practical experience is a key component of the fellowship. Fellows will spend time each year both in disaster and other austere settings as determined by events and their schedule. Field work will be arranged and coordinated under the supervision of the fellowship director.<\/p>\n<h3>Clinical Emergency Medicine<\/h3>\n<p>Fellows work 800 clinical hours per year as faculty in UConn John Dempsey Hospital.
