This includes a continuity clinic of their own patients one afternoon a week. This is where they receive the bulk of their general dermatology, pediatric dermatology and cosmetic dermatology training.<\/p>\n<p>Veterans Hospital of Newington: PGY2 residents are assigned five half days a week at the Veterans Hospital for four months.<\/p>\n<p>Saint Francis Hospital: PGY2 residents are assigned on half day a week at Saint Francis Hospital for four months. This is where they serve the underprivileged population.<\/p>\n<h3>SECOND YEAR OF DERMATOLOGY (PGY3)<\/h3>\n<p>Outpatient Clinic at UConn Health: PGY3 residents spend a majority of their time at UConn Health. This includes a continuity clinic of their own patients one afternoon a week as well as a high volume senior resident clinic and senior cosmetic clinic on a rotating basis. This is where they receive the bulk of their general dermatology, pediatric dermatology and cosmetic dermatology training.<\/p>\n<p>Veterans Hospital of Newington: PGY3 residents are assigned five half days a week at the Veterans Hospital for 2 months.<\/p>\n<p>Hartford Hospital: For two months each year, PGY3\/4 residents spend three half-days a week on the inpatient consult service at Hartford Hospital. This rotation is strictly inpatient and allows for exposure to complex medical-derm cases including connective tissue disease, advanced infectious disease, drug reactions, oncodermatology, and a variety of inflammatory dermatoses.<\/p>\n<p>Specialty Rotations: PGY3 residents are assigned 1 month in Dermatologic Surgery, one month in Dermatopathology, and one month in Pediatric Dermatology at UConn Health. This experience allows for a focused approach to both pathology and surgery, and gives residents a more in-depth understanding of each field and their application to general dermatology.<\/p>\n<h3>CHIEF YEAR OF DERMATOLOGY (PGY4)<\/h3>\n<p>Outpatient Clinic at UConn Health: Chief residents spend a majority of their time at UConn Health. This is an opportunity to pursue a specific interest on a deeper level, or explore a topic that may not be covered in the normal curriculum.
