The first 13 weeks of year academic year, referred to as the \u201clife-threat series\u201d are repeated annually.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Year directed learning<\/strong> twice a month during conference time to focus on level appropriate curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>PGY1- focus on EKG and X-Ray interpretation, specific drug therapy, laboratory testing and physical exam techniques.<\/p>\n<p>PGY2- focus on practical skill sessions and procedures.<\/p>\n<p>PGY3- focus on administrative and EMS practicum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ultrasound Series <\/strong>focusing on learning practical skills of ultrasound in addition to core lectures throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simulation Medicine<\/strong> focuses on learning practical skills of medicine in a simulated patient experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Case Conference <\/strong>focuses on the positive and negative aspects of systems management in regard to core competencies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CQI<\/strong> will review cases with a case management and systems-based issue focus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grand Rounds <\/strong>will have a monthly invited speaker to lecture on emergency medicine topics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GOAT <\/strong>is a resident led educational series that meets twice a month covering agenda items such as board\/ITE review and current EM topics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Journal Club<\/strong> meets once a month where residents present and discuss articles with a critical review of current literature of the block topic. Journal club is typically held off campus at area restaurant, parks, or EM faculty homes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Morning Report <\/strong>is a case based group participation session that includes SIM, procedures, oral board review and case reviews.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Protected time for weekly 5 hour conference based on a 3-year reading curriculum.
