Research

Three months during PGY3 and PGY4 years are dedicated to research activities. Residents are expected to formulate and complete projects of a quality suitable for presentation and/or publication at a national level. The design and preparation of the project proposal will take place during the PGY2 year, and final preparation and faculty advisor approval should be completed one month before the start of the first research rotation. All projects will be carried out under the supervision of the program’s director of research and a faculty advisor. There are numerous National Institutes of Health-funded laboratories at UConn Health that welcome otolaryngology resident involvement and participation. In addition, the program may provide appropriate funding for new and innovative resident research proposals. To complete the academic experience, preparation and submission of applications for outside sources of funding is encouraged.
