One such resource is an outside scholarship. Private and public agencies offer scholarships to students at varying years in school, with eligibility requirements ranging from academic performance to community outreach to research to specialties and more. We have compiled a list of scholarship opportunities and posted them here so that students have an easy to reach resource. This list is by no means a comprehensive list and new opportunities will be added frequently.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Medical and Dental Scholarships<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>US Army HPSP Scholarship<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The US Army offers a program where students can receive a scholarship that covers their tuition in full, the majority of their academic fees, books and health insurance, and receive a monthly stipend to cover living expenses.\u00a0 A 1 to 1 service commitment is required upon graduation and students will enter the army with the rank of a commissioned officer.\u00a0 The 4 year scholarship has a deadline in early January each year, while the 3 year scholarship deadline is ongoing.\u00a0 More information can be found on the linked flyer, <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/financial-aid\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2023\/06\/UCONN-HPSP-flyer.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Medical Student Scholarships<\/h2>\n<h3>BoardVitals Scholarship<\/h3>\n<p>BoardVitals offers two scholarships to qualified medical students attending in their first, second, third or fourth year.\u00a0 More information can be found at the BoardVitals Scholarship website, <a href=\"https:\/\/info.boardvitals.com\/boardvitals-medical-school-scholarship\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 <strong>**The deadline to apply for this scholarship has passed.\u00a0 Check back later in 2026.**<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Orazio Di Mauro Foundation Scholarship<\/h3>\n<p>The Orazio Di Mauro Foundation, headquartered in Trumbull is now accepting application for scholarships for students studying medicine. To be eligible a student must be a resident of one of the following Connecticut towns:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bridgeport<\/li>\n<li>Fairfield<\/li>\n<li>Easton<\/li>\n<li>Monroe<\/li>\n<li>Milford<\/li>\n<li>Stratford<\/li>\n<li>Ansonia<\/li>\n<li>Derby<\/li>\n<li>Seymour<\/li>\n<li>Oxford<\/li>\n<li>Shelton<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The value of the scholarship is $10,000 and more information, including the application can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oraziodimauro.org\" class=\"external\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 <strong>**The deadline to apply for this scholarship has passed.\u00a0 Check back later in 2026.**<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Joseph Collins Memorial Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Students can apply for the scholarship by submitting an <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/financial-aid\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/58\/2021\/01\/Joseph-Collins-Scholarship-Application.pdf\">application<\/a> by the deadline set by The Joseph Collins Foundation.\u00a0 Students must demonstrate financial need, provide a small photograph of themselves and type in all fields to complete the application.\u00a0 <strong>**The deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 1.\u00a0 The application period will open later this year.**<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Herbert W. Nickens Medical Student Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>These awards consist of five scholarships given to outstanding students entering their third year of medical school who have shown leadership in efforts to promote equal opportunity in medical education and access to quality health care. They also should have demonstrated leadership initiative in addressing educational, societal, and health care needs for underserved populations in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Each recipient receives a $5,000 scholarship. Recipients are required to accept the award at Learn Serve Lead 2026: The AAMC Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA (travel and registration costs covered by the AAMC).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Learn more about this scholarship <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aamc.org\/about-us\/aamc-awards\/nickens-medical-student-scholarships\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Kaiser Permanente Medical Student Scholarships<\/h3>\n<p>Six $5,000 scholarships<span>\u00a0will be offered to fourth year medical students selected for their commitment to and achievement in at least one of two areas: Commitment to underserved communities. Applicants must be a third year medical student in good academic standing who expects to graduate in the spring of the following year and interested in seeking residency in Northern California. Scholarship recipients will be encouraged to participate in a one-month clerkship at a Kaiser Permanente facility in Northern California during their fourth year of medical school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>More details can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/residency-ncal.kaiserpermanente.org\/med-students\/scholarships\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>National Institutes of Health Loan Repayment Programs<\/h3>\n<p>The National Institutes of Health\u2019s Loan Repayment Programs repay the outstanding student loans of researchers who are or will be conducting nonprofit biomedical or behavioral research. Opportunities are available in five research areas\u2014clinical, pediatric, health disparities, contraception and infertility and clinical research for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. For more information, visit<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lrp.nih.gov\/\">www.lrp.nih.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h3><strong>The Waterbury Medical Association<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Wellsford and Mildred Clark Medical Memorial Scholarship, established in 1988, provides scholarship opportunities to third year medical students, entering their fourth year. Applicants must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Must be a resident of the state of Connecticut for the previous five years.<\/li>\n<li>Must be enrolled at a non-profit medical school accredited by the AMA and\/or the WHO.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Applications can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.waterburymedicalassociation.org\/Scholarship.html\" class=\"broken_link external\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Windham County Medical Association<\/h3>\n<p>Each year the Executive Board of the Windham County Medical Association allocates a portion of their annual operating budget for scholarships to individuals who are from the county and are in their second or third year of medical school. Candidates applying for this scholarship must be enrolled in a U.S. or Canadian Medical School and have a permanent residence in Windham County, Connecticut. For additional information, please contact the Executive office of the WCMA at<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"tel:8602433977\">860-243-3977<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h3><strong>The Pisacano Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Pisacano Leadership Foundation (PLF) seeks to advance family medicine by providing well-educated, community-minded leaders in primary care. By aiding students who demonstrate the highest levels of commitment to family medicine, scholarship, leadership, character, interpersonal skills, and community service, the PLF will promote the development of the future leaders in the specialty.<\/p>\n<p>The Pisacano Scholars Leadership program is designed to provide educational programs, leadership training, and funding to reimburse a portion of medical-school-related debt. Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding medical students for a four-year period.\u00a0 Students who have made a commitment to the field of family medicine may apply.<\/p>\n<p>Visit their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pisacano.org\/\" class=\"external\" rel=\"noopener\">web page<\/a> for more information.\u00a0 <strong>**Applications are currently being accepted for this scholarship.**<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Dr. Frank and Florence Marino Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Male or female college graduate, who is in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year* of medical school, who:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>has attended Connecticut public and\/or parochial schools for at least eight years;<\/li>\n<li>has graduated from a Connecticut public or parochial high school; and (3) who is attending, and is in good standing at, an A.M.A. (or similar status accrediting entity) accredited medical school located in the United States.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>* In the fall of the award year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Award amount: <\/strong>$1,500-2,000<\/p>\n<p><strong>Number of awards:<\/strong> 2-3<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>Applications can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hfpgscholarships.org\/search\/full-scholarship-list\" class=\"external\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Sylvia Parkinson Fund Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThe scholarships are for the benefit of those deserving medical students and prospective medical students chosen for scholarships to fully accredited medical schools\u2026as the Board of Directors deems advisable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Award amount: <\/strong>$2,000-5,000<\/p>\n<p><strong>Number of awards<\/strong>: 4-8<\/p>\n<p>Instructions to access the application:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hfpgscholarships.org\/\" class=\"external\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>hfpg.org\/scholarships<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Scroll to select the type of college you will attend<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Individual Scholarship Funds at HFPG<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click on the link to access the Foundation\u2019s online portal<\/li>\n<li>Create a profile and log onto the portal<\/li>\n<li>Complete the eligibility quiz to have scholarship applications uploaded to your dashboard<\/li>\n<li>Click Apply to start an application<\/li>\n<li>Each application includes criteria, number of awards and award amounts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Dental Scholarships<\/h4>\n<h3><strong>ADEA\/MouthWatch Predoctoral Dental Student Scholarship for Innovation (NEW!)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>One student who has completed at least one year of an accredited dental program in the US or Canada\u00a0 who is in good academic standing will be awarded a $1,000.00 scholarship.\u00a0 Applications and more information can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adea.org\/home\/education\/ADEA-Scholarships-Awards-and-Fellowships\/for-students\/mouthwatch-predoctoral-dental-student-scholarship-for-innovation\" class=\"broken_link\">here.<\/a> <strong>**Scholarship applications are now being accepted.**<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>ADEA\/GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Preventive Dentistry Scholarships (NEW!)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Twelve pre-doctoral dental students each year are awarded $2,500.00 scholarships by the ADEA and GlaxoSmithKline.\u00a0 Students must demonstrate academic excellence in preventive dentistry.\u00a0 Applications can be submitted on the ADEA website.\u00a0 More information, including qualifications can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adea.org\/home\/education\/ADEA-Scholarships-Awards-and-Fellowships\/for-students\/mouthwatch-predoctoral-dental-student-scholarship-for-innovation\" class=\"broken_link\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h3><strong>Sachar Dental Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Sachar Dental Practice in mid-town Manhattan provides a $1,000 scholarship to qualified applicants pursuing a career in dentistry.
