The FAFSA Application for 2023-2024 is NOW OPEN!

 

Who needs to complete 2023-2024 FAFSA? Well I’m glad you asked!

  • Students who use federal aid to pay their fee bill and fund living expenses
  • Students who use institutional aid to pay their fee bill and fund living expenses

 

What is Federal Aid?

  • Direct Unsubsidized and Direct Health Professions Loans
  • Direct Graduate PLUS loans
  • HRSA funding (Loans for Disadvantaged Students, Dental Health Professions Loans, Federal Primary Care loans)

In order to be considered for Federal Aid you must complete the FAFSA every year!

 

How to complete a FAFSA:

  • Complete the 2023-2024 application via https://studentaid.gov/, using 2021 financial information
    • You must include parent information if you wish to be considered for Institutional aid or HRSA funding
  • UCONN school code is: 001417 (We won’t be able to receive the application without this code!)

 

What is Institutional Aid?

  • Tuition Remission
  • University Loan
  • Institutional Primary Care Loan

In order to be considered for Institutional Aid you must complete the FAFSA every year!

Institutional Aid also requires an Institutional Aid application, please see the additional information below:

 

Institutional Aid Applicants:

  • File the  2023 2024 FAFSA.
    • Be sure to include parental information in the Parent’s Section
  • Utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to import 2021 tax figures directly from the IRS for maximum accuracy and faster processing.
  • Use UConn’s Federal School Code, 001417
  • Compile 2021 Federal Tax Returns & W2(s) for yourself, spouse (if applicable), and parents.  **Please do not submit state returns.
  • Complete the 2023-2024 Institutional Aid Application

 

All tax documents should be uploaded using the Secure Document Upload

 

Please remember, the On-Time Institutional Financial Aid application priority filing date is  February 15, 2023. In order to be considered on-time for Institutional Aid purposes you must submit the following by February 15, 2023:

 

-Completed 2023-2024 FAFSA, including parent information

-Completed 2023-2024 Institutional Aid application, including SIGNED parent signature page

Institutional Aid is “first-come, first-served” and failure to meet the requirements for on-time consideration could result in a loss of eligibility for Institutional Aid.

If you do NOT wish to be considered for Institutional Aid; you only need to complete a 2023-2024 FAFSA using your (and your spouse if applicable) 2021 tax information.
