She is particularly interested in the effects of psychological states on diabetes. Her studies ask the basic question: \u201cHow do mental experiences get under the skin and damage the blood vessels in people with diabetes?\u201d In her personal time, Julie enjoys hiking and bird watching with her husband, meditating, playing with her cat, and participating in religious education activities at her temple.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-54-1\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-54-1-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-54-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_widget_sp_image widget_sp_image panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"2\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"100\" height=\"125\" alt=\"Angela Bermudez-Millan, Ph.D., M.P.H.\" class=\"attachment-full\" style=\"max-width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/diabetes-research\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/122\/2017\/04\/bermudez-millan-2017.jpg\" \/><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-54-1-1\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-54-1-1-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"3\" ><div class=\"textwidget\"><p><strong>Angela Bermudez-Millan, Ph.D., M.P.H. <\/strong><br \/><em>Assistant Research Professor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bermudez-Millan\u2019s area of research focuses on maternal nutrition and child health, food insecurity, health disparities, using community participatory methods.
