Since the program began in 1986, it has provided more than 350 educational experiences for students in every region of the world. While CBE is no longer directly involved in the Global Health Program, we continue to support it and offer resources.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the program is to help students understand and respond to the problems and needs of underserved communities, both in this country and in the developing world. This includes learning how to work cross-culturally and cross-nationally in collaboration with health professionals and community leaders. Student experiences include community health research and health education, clinical care and language study. The curriculum times in which students participate in international health are between first and second year, during fourth year and in an optional fifth year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-61-2\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style\" ><div class=\"hide panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-61-2\" ><div id=\"pgc-61-2-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-61-2-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-first-child\" data-index=\"2\" ><div class=\"textwidget\"><p>The Global Health program at UConn Health is co-sponsored by Community Based Education and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.commed.uchc.edu\/cichs\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Center for International Community Health Studies (CICHS)<\/a>.
