{"id":702,"date":"2014-06-02T11:10:06","date_gmt":"2014-06-02T15:10:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crcuhwp.uconn.edu\/?page_id=102"},"modified":"2026-04-17T07:36:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T11:36:15","slug":"clinical-core","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/clinical-research-center\/services\/clinical-core\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinical Core"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">The Clinical Research Center (CRC) provides support across the full spectrum of participant-oriented research and is the cornerstone for clinical research at UConn Health. Our staff can provide investigators with the resources they need and help make it easier to get and stay engaged in research. CRC support is available to all UConn Health researchers who have a need for CRC resources and who will conduct clinical research of scientific merit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Examples of what the CRC Clinical Core can provide are as follows: assistance with preparing IRB submissions, screening and recruitment, conducting study visits, sample processing\/storage\/shipping, investigational drug administration and informatics.<\/p>\n<p>Studies funded by federal sources, foundations, industry and other sources are welcome. CRC collaborates with UConn Health\u2019s Office of Clinical and Translational Research (OCTR) to navigate the intricacies of budget and contract negotiations as well as the complexities of research financial compliance.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators are encouraged to contact the Clinical Core Nurse Manager to discuss the process for requesting CRC resources and the particular needs of their study. The CRC is dedicated to continuing to foster and optimize clinical research at UConn Health.<\/p>\n<h3>Location<\/h3>\n<p>CRC is located in the main lobby of the Connecticut Tower, just past the main Information Desk. Our outpatient facility includes a reception and waiting area, seven exam rooms (one negative pressure), lab specimen processing laboratory (with countertop refrigerated centrifuge and <span>-80\u00b0C freezer<\/span>), dirty utility room, two in-suite bathrooms and staff office space.<\/p>\n<h3>Services<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Screening\/recruitment<\/li>\n<li>Informed consent process<\/li>\n<li>Study visits<\/li>\n<li>Participant teaching<\/li>\n<li>Phlebotomy\/specimen collection<\/li>\n<li>Investigational drug administration<\/li>\n<li>Special testing\/procedures<\/li>\n<li>Other data collection (e.g., questionnaire administration, assistance with self-administered computerized questionnaires)<\/li>\n<li>Study coordination<\/li>\n<li>IRB submissions<\/li>\n<li>Regulatory binder creation\/maintenance<\/li>\n<li>SAE\/AE tracking and reporting<\/li>\n<li>Case Report Form (CRF) design<\/li>\n<li>Research record chart assembly and
