Structural Heart

UConn Health offers several treatments and therapies for disorders involving the heart’s structure, such as valvular heart disease. Some structural heart diseases may be present at birth, and some may develop over time as the heart ages. Catheter-based therapies are now available for some patients, allowing for a faster recovery than traditional open-heart surgery.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that treats aortic valve stenosis. At UConn Health, every TAVR procedure is performed by a highly experienced multidisciplinary team that includes a specialized cardiac interventionalist physician, a cardiothoracic surgeon, and specially trained support staff.

Visit our cardiothoracic surgery page to learn more about TAVR and aortic valve stenosis.
